SmarTally® Moisture Edition is a database driven analysis and reporting package. It provides a feedback loop showing you the moisture content of the wood after a specified number of hours of drying. This feedback loop allows you to tune the kiln settings to produce a consistent lumber dryness every time.

Running Hot Wood
Hot wood must cool in the yard for at least eight hours before going into the planer. If it isn't allowed this time to dry, it is falsely read as wet by the moisture meter and bends excessively during MSR testing. This produces a grade lower than it actually is resulting in lost profits.

SmarTally® Moisture Edition collects the necessary information that helps prevent this. When hot wood is detected entering the planer the bundle is flagged and you are alerted before the entire charge is run.

Detecting hot wood and preventing it from entering the planer is key to reducing lost profits, and SmarTally® Moisture Edition helps you do it.

Click the screenshot to the left to view a larger image. The red bar highlights wood that was put into the planer less than three hours after coming out of the kiln. SmarTallyT™Moisture Edition can alert you via:

• Wireless alarming from a handheld mobile device.

Report Features

The Reporting feature of SmarTally® Moisture Edition is also a valuable tool. Custom reports can created based on Day, Week, Month, Year, Fiscal Year, or a customizable date range.

Print reports on only what you need. Filter out data by double-clicking it. The report to the left has been filtered to display data on Kiln 3 only. You can filter by Kiln Number, Charge Number, Dimension, etc.
